Its primary effect is to reduce tension in the vocal cords.  <\/p><h4>Who is a Candidate for Vocal Cord Toxin Injection?<\/h4><p>Vocal cord disorders treated with filler injection include:<br>-Spasmodic dysphonia (Vocal cord spasm)<br>-Vocal cord tremor<br>-Vocal cord tension (Muscle tension dysphonia)<br>-Sensation of irritation in the throat<br>-Persistent chronic cough<br>-Sensation of something stuck when swallowing (Globus)<br>-Vocal cord granuloma<br>-Bilateral vocal cord paralysis<\/p><h4>How is Vocal Cord Toxin Injection Performed?<\/h4><p>Vocal cord toxin injection can be performed in two ways: endoscopically under general anesthesia or with local anesthesia in an outpatient setting. It is most commonly performed under local anesthesia worldwide. I also prefer to perform it in an outpatient setting for almost all my patients. When applied in the outpatient clinic, vocal cord toxin injection is a procedure that takes minutes. Patients return home on the same day and are generally not expected to experience severe pain after the procedure.     <\/p><p>The vocal cord toxin injection procedure begins to show its effect within a few days and lasts for 3-6 months. While some of the conditions listed above require repeated procedures, a single application may be sufficient for others. <\/p><p>When performed for the correct vocal disorder and at the appropriate dose, vocal cord toxin injection can be the ideal treatment for your hoarseness.
